Kidding. My name's Dave and this past May I graduated from Emory University in Atlanta. I majored in Journalism and History (wait, wait, don't close the window yet) and minored in Computer Science. I entered college with zero CS knowledge and by my senior year I was thriving in upper-level CS electives. I took my first CS class the spring semester of sophomore year and it was at that point I discovered my passion for coding.
I know the cards are somewhat stacked against me for this first job search, but I've been proving people wrong my whole life. What some might think I lack in conventional CS class work, I make up for in determination, and creativity. I work hard, pick things up quickly and work well in teams. As an intern for New York Public Radio last year, I had to learn to work collaboratively with Git, code reviews, and the project management systems in place. This year, as the editor-in-chief of Emory's humor magazine, I transformed the floundering magazine into the most widely read publication on campus by taking it online and leading effectively. I have experience with taking an idea and turning it into a product a wide variety of people will use and enjoy.
I'm looking for a full-time opportunity that would give me the opportunity to work creatively and learn. My skill set at this point is geared towards web development, but I'm very open to working in other programming fields. I am willing to relocate to any metropolitan area for the right opportunity, though I'm especially interested in Boston, Seattle, The Bay Area®, Austin and Atlanta.
